A Survey on Fingerprint Indexing Techniques for Biometric Database

In biometric identification systems, the identity associated with the input data is determined by comparing it against every entry in the database. This exhaustive matching process increases the response time of the system and, potentially, the rate of erroneous identification. This paper presents a survey on the indexing methods that are currently available for fingerprint. Fingerprint indexing is based on the global feature, local ridge line orientation, minutiae and other features. An exhaustive survey is done on all the indexing techniques and some of them are presented.
